Children and Adolescents

Young people can display challenging behaviours for a variety of reasons which can impact negatively on home life, education and society. These behaviours may be a result of past experiences such as trauma or a life event. Other reasons may be due to complex needs or difficulties in coping with situations.

Sometimes there are no clear explanations. Negative behaviours can contribute to an unsettled home life, failing education, antisocial behaviour and in more serious cases alcohol and substance misuse, gang involvement or criminal activity. Mentoring serves as an opportunity for the young person to spend one to one time with an appropriate adult in a recreational setting to address any of these potential areas of concern.

Young & Vulnerable Adults 18+

For the first time these individuals will be making decisions for themselves whilst taking on new responsibilities.

Some are fortunate to have extended support from previous carers but for others these opportunities are minimal or no longer present.

Adults suffering with complex, special needs or disabilities can find daily chores and tasks extremely demanding. Simple day to day tasks can be magnified and difficult to manage. At KMS we provide the facilities and amenities to teach and support our young adults with basic life skills such as cooking, budgeting, money management etc.

KMS support young and vulnerable adults by developing skills that will help them cope and work confidently with their abilities and surroundings in the home and the community, encouraging and empowering them to make right choices and become more independent.

Session locations, activities and tasks will vary depending on each individual's needs and abilities. Sessions may be in the community, home, the KMS unit, or any area where the support is required.
